System of injection of KE-III-Jetronic

Multipoint injection

The engines equipped with system of injection of gasoline, pull together clean air. In addition to it the system of injection doses out fuel for each cylinder. At models it occurs to the 5-cylinder engine constantly (kontinuierlich) and management of this process is carried out elektronno (elektronisch) therefore our system of injection received the name KE-III-Jetronic.

Action principle

The primary form of this system of injection, K-Jetronic, worked purely mechanically by a principle «a lot of inlet air – a lot of fuel». And such simple devices as a regulator of enrichment of gas mixture at warming up of the engine and the starting valve, in addition provided a prisposablivayemost to difficult service conditions. To combine a lambda regulation (with adjustable catalytic converter) with classical system K-Jetronic without additional devices it was impossible.

This circumstance served as the main reason for further development of KE-Jetronic. Basic elements of former system remained and were added with the electronic control unit and a so-called regulator of pressure – in addition influencing fuel dispensing by regulator with an electromagnetic drive. The regulator of pressure is active mainly during engine warming up, however it also carries out the central function at regulation of composition of gas mixture through a lambda regulation (adjustable catalytic converter).

Together with completely electronic system of ignition of "VEZ" (the ignition System is considered in head) this system of injection represents a full control system of the engine. Though each system is supplied with own control unit, between them there is a data exchange. Besides, as information sources for ignition and injection systems the same sensors often serve.

The store of malfunctions which is writing down malfunctions during movement, finishes electronics possibilities. Memory of the store of malfunctions can be interrogated for establishment of the reason of malfunctions.
