Various systems of ignition
The system of ignition is almost in all Audi 80 models a component of electronic system of the engine. But that on paper looks difficult, actually is rather simple: at models with 4-and 6-cylinder engines the system of ignition copes the same control unit, as injection system. It has that advantage that reactions of both systems can be optimum coordinated with each other. Besides, for formation of a mix and regulation of the moment of ignition (as it was already described) the same sensors can be involved. On the various Audi 80 models the following systems of ignition are established:
- System of ignition of Mono-Motronic for the engine in capacity of 66 kW. Already at this simplest version of the engine regulation of the moment of ignition, that is coordination of the moment of ignition with the corresponding operational situation, is made only by electronics.
- The system of ignition of Digifant is established on engines in capacity of 85 kW. A principle of action same, as well as at Molo-Motronic system: in total in one control unit, regulation of the moment of ignition is carried out by electronics.
- Completely electronic system of ignition (VEZ) is established on the 5-cylinder engine in capacity of 98 kW. This system of ignition though is supplied with own control unit, however systems of ignition and injection are with each other in continuous data exchange. Regulation of the moment of ignition is carried out by electronics.
- Systems of ignition of MPI or MPFI of 6-cylinder engines also are a component of electrosystem of the engine. Feature: these systems carry out ignition without the distributor. Respectively, two located the friend opposite to the friend of the cylinder is the share of everyone one coil of ignition which makes a spark only if it is necessary for one of cylinders. For technical reasons (economy of details) each cylinder receives at each turn of the engine one more (unnecessary, but also not harming) a spark in a release step.

Help: as it was already mentioned, various systems of ignition have many common features. Systems of ignition of 4-and 5-cylinder engines are almost identical. For example, at these systems the high-voltage element in which the spark is created is almost identical. Serious distinctions exist only with systems of ignition of 6-cylinder engines.
